By attending the OR Manager Conference or PACU Manager Summit Full Conference Pass, you have the opportunity to obtain 20.0 contact hours through Workshops, Breakout Sessions, Keynote Speakers, and Poster Presentations.

During the Exhibit Hall hours, you will have the opportunity to earn additional contact hours by participating in the Town Hall Sessions in the OR of the Future, CE programs presented by exhibitors, and poster sessions.

The OR Manager Conference Poster Gallery will be open during all Exhibition hours (located inside the Exhibit Hall). You will have the opportunity to meet with Poster authors and discuss their research during our poster presentations. To receive additional contact hours after the poster sessions, an online quiz will be available in our e-Gallery, which will be available upon the Conference’s start.

During the Exhibit hours, you will have the opportunity to participate in CE programs presented by exhibitors and earn contact hours. Each program is worth 0.5 contact hours and you must attend at least 2 sessions to earn 1 contact hour.

The Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) certification is for perioperative leaders interested in improving and validating their managerial knowledge and skills to advance the performance of their surgical services departments. CSSM certification recognizes the important role managers have in directing staff, programs and budgets in delivering safe patient care, and provides recognition for the important and distinct role of surgical services leaders.

By attending sessions at the OR Manager Conference, you will receive contact hours which meet continuing education coursework requirements necessary for the exam application, as well as recertification activities. After this session you’ll be able to:

Cite illustrations of the tasks performed by surgical services leaders.
Relate examples of the knowledge needed to manage in the surgical services work environment.
Summarize two emerging trends that affect the delivery of surgical care in the United States.

Why this is important:

The Fundamentals of OR Management Certificate of Mastery (FORM COM) program is designed to familiarize leaders and managers in surgical services with the skills and knowledge needed to perform in this demanding work environment. The FORM COM program is built on the findings of the Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) Job Analysis performed by Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) in 2016. That job analysis study compiled descriptive information about the tasks performed by surgical services leaders and managers as well as the knowledge needed to perform those tasks. The task and knowledge statements of the job analysis cover seven major areas of practice.

This certificate program is meant to help participants achieve the stated learning outcomes through education, training, and learning activities, and it is not restricted to registered nurses. The Fundamentals of OR Management Certificate of Mastery is awarded upon satisfactory completion of all course activities and designates that participants have completed the required education/training and demonstrated accomplishment of the learning outcomes.

By attending this workshop, you will earn a certificate of completion as well as 12.0 CE credits.
